Ynys Lochtyn is part of a promontory that juts out almost a kilometres into Cardigan Bay. The high cliffs of the island, or those of the surrounding coastline of the Ceredigion Coast Path, offer a superb vantage point for land-based spotting. Over 300 bottlenose dolphins are known to be using Cardigan Bay, around 200 in any year, with numbers increasing throughout the summer and reaching a peak in late September and October.
Follow the directions for the walking route to the island.
