Walking the Broomway to Foulness Island is a classic tidal walk in Britain. It a 9 km route along Maplin Sands with very little in terms of navigational markers. With an incoming tide that can outpace any person and a landlord that likes to fire missile across the sands this is not for the feint hearted. The full route is described in our book “Islandeering: adventures around the edge of Britain’s hidden islands”.
