The Dorset Wildlife Trust own much of the north-east corner of Brownsea Island which is dominated by lagoons and artificial islands that support a vast array of birdlife, water voles and sika deer. The lagoons offer something in all seasons with hundreds of common terns, sandwich terns and spoonbills in the summer with avocets, black-tailed godwits and wildfowl in the winter.
In October over 40 spoonbills may be spotted in the lagoon from one of the bird hides on the shore.
