The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) do show on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. The island has little light pollution, and is one of the best places in England to see the Aurora. It’s even more spectacular if it appears over Lindisfarne Castle.
The best time to see the aurora in the UK is from September and April. You can check the 3-day forecast for the likelihood of an event here or set up alert for potential displays in the UK here. You’ll also need to check the weather forecast for a clear sky, check that there is no full moon (as it will drown out the Aurora) as well as the tide times to see if you can get to this tidal island (or better still spend a few days here and stay overnight).
