Brownsea Open Air Theatre (BOAT) annually performs a Shakespeare play in the open air on the island during July and August. Boats are laid on to ferry theatre goers to and from Poole Quay. Proceeds from the production are donated to The National Trust. Their performances are critically acclaimed and BOAT has been featured in The Guardian as one of the UK’s Top 10 Open Air Theatre Venues in the UK. In 2009 BOAT was included in Debrett’s list of the top five things to do in England; and in 2019 Woman’s Weekly featured BOAT as one of the Top 5 Open Air Theatres in the UK.
